The Songwriter, The Lyric, The Interpretation with Barb Jungr

The Songwriter, the Lyric, the Interpretation.

Make that Song Your Own!  From the 1960’s to the present day our listening has been shaped by some of the most idiosyncratic voices singing their own songs - through Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell to Carole King, David Bowie, Jimmy Webb, Alannis Morisette, Amy Winehouse and more. But how do you make those songs your own?

Barb Jungr is one of the most acclaimed interpreters of these songbooks and she will, over a 6 week period, work with singers to find their own way into songs which are regarded as iconic. Digging deep into the words, into the emotions and into ourselves we find a new way of accessing these great songs, without copying but by moving towards unique possibilities for singers.

Barb will work with each singer and their chosen songs to find new depth and performance possibilities, by looking at rhythms, arrangements and texts, we can open doors no one knew were there. Each week will be about looking at a new song so that we sharpen our capacity to approach the material, culminating in every participants’ expansion of their skills and repertoire.

Singers will work with tracks.
